We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our colleague and friend, Olivier Lippens at the age of 29 after a tragic accident.

Olivier was an Investment Manager in Fortino’s Belgian VC team. Before joining Fortino, he worked at Bain & Company PE group, co-founded an AI startup through Entrepreneur First, and dedicated time to global causes at the United Nations and the Red Cross.

Those who knew Olivier will remember his kindness, adventurous spirit, and boundless energy. He loved sports, travelled the world, and was always ready to lend a hand. In both his work and life, Olivier carried a rare generosity and warmth that touched everyone around him.

As we honour his memory, we share a quote Olivier lived by, inspired by Nelson Mandela: "There is no passion to be found playing small, in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. Dream big, strive to achieve your 5-year goals, but most importantly, believe that you can achieve them. The world is at your feet. Believe it and take it."

He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
